I’m Rex White—husband, dad of two young kids, and someone who spent too many years gripping a life I was only ever meant to steward.

I know the exhaustion you feel. The mental load that never clears. The sense that you’re managing everything and failing at all of it. The 11:47 p.m. dread when you realize you didn’t show up the way you meant to—again.

I’ve spent most of my career in business strategy & operations: building systems, optimizing processes, and solving problems. And I’m good at it. But somewhere along the way, I started treating my whole life like a system to optimize. My family. My faith. My future.

It doesn’t work. You can’t control your way into peace.

Holding Loosely is where I’m working out a different way to live, one rooted in an ancient idea: that I’m not the owner of my life, I’m the steward. I tend what’s entrusted. I show up fully. And I release what I can’t control.

I’m also writing a book about it, due in 2026. This newsletter is where I share what I’m learning along the way: stories from the middle of it and a helpful theology and set of practices you can try.

I don’t have this figured out. But I think we might be tired of some of the same things.

I’m glad you’re here.
